- Keep frequently used items near the front of your unit for easy access.
- Leave a small walkway for easy access to your items.
- Protect photos by placing them between two pieces of cardboard to prevent curling.
- Use covers and treat wood furniture to prevent damage over time.
- Secure your unit with a high-quality lock, such as a disc lock.
- Label every box clearly on multiple sides.
- Avoid placing boxes directly on concrete. Use pallets or skids to prevent moisture damage.
- Drain gasoline and oil from lawn equipment before storing.
- Store shovels, rakes, and similar tools upright in a bin or trash can to save space and stay organized.
- Disassemble furniture and store items like tabletops and sofas upright.
- Hang clothing in wardrobe boxes to keep items clean and wrinkle-free.
- Cover mattresses and store them flat on a level surface.
- Protect metal items by wiping them with a light coat of oil to prevent rust.
- Do not store prohibited items such as perishables, liquids, flammable materials, or hazardous substances.
